Remember, 2018 Mustang Drivers: With Great Line-Lock Power Comes Great Responsibility

Achieving burnout, i.e. smoking tires, on most civilian-model cars is a precarious task. If you do it wrong, you could damage your transmission, or simply fail to get the wheels spinning in place.

Drag racers don't have time for all that, so most pros use track-modified vehicles with a line-lock system, which simply holds the brakes on the front wheels so the rear wheels can spin. This technology is now standard on all 2018 Ford Mustang models.

There are few things more exhilarating than generating a huge plume of smoke as your engine roars and tires scream against the pavement—but remember, with great power comes great responsibility.

Pro racers use slick tires designed for the track, and they're prepared to replace them often, because treating your tires this way is very, very hard on them. So keep in mind, while you can do a burnout any time you want with your new 2018 Mustang, you might need to restrain yourself... or stock up on new tires.
